*Cardboard*?! No. No. No no no no no. Nooooooo

Is it really supposed to be routed over the battery??

How do you patch your radiator hoses, Mr. Fancy Pants?

Everyone knows coolant soaked cardboard is the best seal, and heat only makes it seal harder. Plus it's now that the coolant has soaked the cardboard, the fire hazard has all but been eliminated!

The MOST expensive upper radiator hose that RockAuto carries for this application is $11. Too bad the money got spent on this instead:
I bet they’re not even aimed correctly.

duct tape.
duh.

There are few things cheaper on a car than generic radiator hoses, and this guy couldn't even do that much.

yes. IIRC to get the 258 to fit, they had to do some, um, creative packaging of the cooling system.
when the XJ first launched, it only had the AMC 2.5 4-banger (the 258 sans two cylinders) and the GM 2.8 liter V6.

zip ties fine
but who tries to hold in water with paper?

“but who tries to hold in water with paper?”
Some people have made a business model out of it.

Exactly!

The owner has money for fancy aftermarket LED headlights, but can’t afford to replace a radiator hose.
CAR MAINTENANCE FAIL!

Nah bro, they’re aimed straight up, for maximum lightage.

Same thing I make my bandages out of, electrical tape. If it works for blood, it should work for antifreeze, right?
![]() 12/24/2018 at 13:54 |

Well now, I just feel silly for calling it into question.
![]() 12/24/2018 at 13:54 |

So, you’re saying ... no?

Clearly he spent all his cash on LEDs and, I’m just assuming here, Monster and smokes.

Yeah, there’s a lot of fail going on here.

Wait though, the hose on this one is coming from a completely different place. Hinky. Very hinky.

Sounds about right!
![]() 12/24/2018 at 14:09 |

no, both hoses terminate at the same places. the one I posted has to route around the A/C compressor, the Comanche in the link doesn’t have A/C.
![]() 12/24/2018 at 14:29 |

Gotcha. Now I see it snaking around the compressor in the one you posted.

By no, he actually means yes...

Ha!

Ah - up until the modern “ let’s hide everything under the hood” trend, I don’t recall seeing anything routed over the battery. Presumably to make changing it a little easier.
